New 14” Concrete Cut-Off Gas Saw from Makita EK7301

Makita continues to improve upon their concrete cutting gas saws with this latest version the EK7301. A similar sized engine to the previous version at 73cc 5.1 HP. The saw has seen many improvements from top to bottom. If you are thinking it looks very similar to the Diamond Products SLR Fast-Cut we mentioned not to long ago you would be correct. Both saws are made by Dolmar Power Products, a high quality small gas power equipment manufacturer and fully owned subsidiary of Makita. Learn more about the new technical improvements of the Makita Saw below.

Makita, a worldwide manufacturer of technologically advanced power tools that are more compact with less weight yet deliver industrial strength power and results, has released a new 14" Power Cutter, model EK7301. Makita also released three new diamond blades, part of the optimum diamond blade line-up engineered to cut faster, last longer and finish smoother. They are the latest additions to Makita’s extensive range of concrete solutions.

"In the concrete cutting category, our new EK7301 gas power cutter is engineered to meet the demand for convenience and performance," said Adam Livingston, Product Manager, Commercial Products. "This tool has many innovative features over our previous models including faster starting, more power, and improved fuel economy."

Improved Performance

The new EK7301 has a 4.5 cu.in. (73 cc) engine with 5.1 HP (maximum horsepower) and a no load speed of 9,350 RPM to take on the most demanding applications. The ignition coil with start-support function stores electrical power with each pull for easier start-ups. It’s engineered for reduced flooding with a carburetor that includes improved deco-valve and metering spring for precise fuel regulation at start up. The EK7301 also features more efficient fuel consumption with an SLR muffler that recycles unburned fuel vapor for reduced scavenging-losses and 15% improved consumption."

Ease-of-Use Features

In addition to the power and performance, the EK7301 has a range of ease-of-use features. The starter grip and decompression valve are located on the same side for faster starting, while the on-off-choke operating switch is on a single lever for operator convenience. The cushioned operator grips with four vibration-absorption rubber buffers are designed for increased operator comfort. The large volume exhaust is ported to direct debris away from operator, while aluminum guard and wheel pressure plates are designed to reduce weight. The cutting arm position easily changes from center position to flush (outboard) position, allowing cuts directly adjacent to curb edges, walls or directly above the ground.

Additional ease-of-use features include a five-stage foam-paper-nylon system with advance directional air flow that provides cleaner air for better saw performance and easy filter cleaning and replacement.

The power, performance and ease-of-use features of the EK7301 make it a best-in-class 14" power cutter for a range of professional concrete cutting applications and is ideal for landscapers, road construction crews, railroad crews, rescue crews, general steel contractors, masons, and welders.

The EK7301 includes the tool, universal displacement, torx key, screwdriver, and adaptor ring. A Makita Dolly & Gravity Feed Tank (model DT2000, available separately) can be used with a garden hose, gravity tank or pressure tank.
