Milwaukee Electric Tool has recently updated its website www.milwaukeetool.com and there are many new features which have been improved for the new website. Graphically the new site is very attractive and easy to navigate. The new site is also heavily focused on providing a direct link to purchase products. These links go to a Google Shopping search page which allows customers to select from a list of potential retailers and select the best price. In many cases this system does an effective job however searching the new products I found many cases where the google page would show the Milwaukee tools along with several their competitors. From a shopping experience I don’t see a big problem with also having some competitor models in the search field but if I were Milwaukee spending a lot of time and money to drive traffic to my site only to have a potential customers at the last minute switch to a competitor’s brand that might be frustrating.
An example of this would be the very first tool listed on the “New Products & Offers” page gives you these results (google page) for the 6116-30 grinder at the time of this post it provided 3 Milwaukee models (although not the correct model) from Amazon, Ebay & Ohio Power Tool. It also displays 4 Makita models, a Black & Decker, Hitachi and Metabo. For old models of tools the system works better but new models are typically where you are going to find people looking to manufacturer sites for more info. Hopefully they will work to improve some of those systems. Overall I think the site is a huge step forward from the user side.
