Milwaukee Fastback 2 Because the Best Just Isn’t Good Enough

August of last year we conducted a comparison test of the Top 8 Utility Knives that we had seen from two previous posts on the topic as well as a few of the latest and greatest innovations added into the mix. The winner of the competition was the Milwaukee Fastback 48-22-1901 ($15, Ohio Power Tool) with our only complaint that there was no onboard blade storage.

Apparently the folks at Milwaukee were not satisfied with simply winning our competition they also wanted to silence every possible negative comment out there. In January 2013 they will be launch the Fastback 2 48-22-1902 ($19) which will offer a single blade magnetic storage (2 blades if really pack them in). The added weight and thickness was almost unnoticeable and it definitely retains the opening quickness that give it the name Fastback.

Is it even necessary? For now we are very happy with the performance of the current model but when we have to retire this one we would probably want to upgrade assuming the price is about the same.
