Makita 18Vx2 Brushless Circular Saw XSR01PT

Makita XSR01Z

At the World of Concrete this week one of the big cordless launches from Makita Tools is their new Brushless 7-1/4” Circular Saw (XSR01Z bare & XSR01PT kit) which utilizes two 18V LXT batteries to produce 36V of power. This is the First Cordless Rear-Drive circular saw on the market, although not claiming a Worm Drive or Hypoid Gear system, it does offer more power, 5100RPM, better balance and larger capacity (2-9/16”) vs other corded and cordless competitors.

Makita XSR01PT

The Makita XSH01Z ($199) was the first cordless 7-1/4” on the market to utilize the 2 battery system and continues to stand the test of time competing well in our recent test of Cordless Circular Saws against the Milwaukee FUEL and Dewalt FlexVolt even though it was a brushed motor. We hope to get the next XSR01Z in the shop for official testing but with two 5.0Ah Makita 18V LXT batteries they are claiming 558 cross cuts in 2×4 SPF and 291 cross cuts in 2×10 SPF, or about 10-15% more than Milwaukee M18 FUEL with 9.0Ah or Dewalt FlexVolt 60V with 9.0Ah battery.

We expect the new saw to be available by March or April 2017 and pre-orders opening up even sooner. For questions on any Makita Tools give the pros at Ohio Power Tool a call 800-242-4424 and they will be happy to help you find the right tool for the job.
