Ingersoll Rand Delivers on New and Improved 20V Compact Impact Wrenches

By Robert Smith

Ingersoll Rand has listened to their end users who demanded more performance out of the 3/8 and ½ inch IQv20 mid-torque impact wrenches. They have delivered on an updated line of 20V tools with focus on power, control, durability and access. Both come in 1 or 2 battery kits as well as bare tools in 3/8″ or 1/2″ so there’s something for someone at any level. Let’s dive into what they’ve done.

The power comes from a brushless motor and impact mechanism that are finely tuned to unleash a high power-to-weight ratio with 550 ft.-lbs. of nut busting torque. The all-metal drivetrain and hammer mechanism are designed to provide you with the power you’ll need without extra weight, and at 5.3 lbs. (with the battery!) you’ll be able to operate this thing all day with ease.

The control comes from 4 power modes which can be easily adjusted by a dial instead of changing tools, so efficiency is key. Now you are saving time and eliminating rework, so that’s more money for you in the long run. Everything from brake calipers to valve covers can now be handled with this one impact, and the variable-speed switch with electronic brake completes the maximum control of this tool.

The durability starts with stronger internal parts sitting inside a chemical-resistant composite housing and a patented steel-reinforced frame. The W5133 is built to withstand countless drops onto hard concrete and all the other fluids floating around your shop. The IQV spark-free brushless technology and reinforced brushing add up to a motor you can rely on for years to come.

The access starts with the tapered front end and compact ergonomic design lending it to fit anywhere with comfort considering the lightweight build of the machine. The built-in 360-degree COB LED light will cast a wide beam to give you optimal visibility without shadowing in every nook and cranny. As you can see this tool is well-rounded and has been improved from all angles.
