Hyundai Power Generators – HY2000si, HHD6250 & HHD7250

New to Ohio Power Tool and pretty much the whole US market is the Hyundai line of Power Generators. These models have done well in Canada and Europe for some time and are now are making their way to the states. Currently there are 3 models available in the US which would be classified more as residential or recreational models vs heavy duty professional equipment the rental houses would use. The prices are very competitive and it looks like Hyundai really wants to be a player in the generator world. The Hyundai brand has been associated with dependability and very low prices which hopefully is exactly where these units will deliver. Here is a quick look at the 3 current models with 4 more models available by the end of the year.

Hyundai 2000w Generator – HY2000si

We were lucky enough to test out the 2000 watt model HY2000si ($699 w/Shipping, Ohio Power Tool) during last weekend’s tailgate at The Ohio State University, where they crushed the Miami Hurricanes. Go Bucks! The unit is designed specifically to go after the extremely popular tailgating Honda Generator EU2000iA ($1150 retail) so what better testing ground. While the Hyundai is slightly louder at 65dB vs Honda 59dB and weights about 20lbs more for the large discount associated with the Hyundai it could be a good option if you are looking for an alternative to the Honda. Later this year there will also be a 3000 watt Hyundai model available which would be even more comparable to the Honda EU3000iSA or Yamaha EF3000iSE with noise levels at only 59dB and weight at only 124lbs, very similar to the competition.

Hyundai Generators 5500W HHD6250 & 6500W HHD7250

These units are wheeled cart designs with tube frames and fold down handles. We had the HHD7250 ($999 w/Shipping, Ohio Power Tool) model in for week of testing and it performed very well. The electric start is available on the HHD7250 (but not the HHD6250) and made it very easy to fire up every time. Important to know this unit also comes with a battery which we have found many other generator companies do not provide in package. An interesting conversation you may find online is that since the current DeWalt Generators have moved away from Honda they are now using Motors made by Hyundai. Unfortunately we were unable to substantiate these claims either way.

Ohio Power Tool offers a wide range of Power Generators for jobsite and backup power in addition to Hyundai with name brands motors such as Honda, Kubota and others. If you have any questions about your needs, specs or anything else do not hesitate to call the pros at 800-242-4424. All their generators also include FREE SHIPPING which is another nice feature.
