Hitachi Power Tools is Now Metabo HPT

Metabo HPT

Yes the rumors are true Hitachi Power Tools is changing their name to Metabo HPT but will remain a totally different tool brand from Metabo with different cordless platform for the near future. Originally we heard the Hitachi Tool brand (purchased by KKR investment first about a year ago) was going to become Koki Holdings as the global conglomerate Hitachi was no longer going to let their name be on the tools. KKR also owns Metabo so from a tool branding stand point this makes a lot of sense, with such a great name you can use. Logistically for tool users and retailers this has a big potential to get messy and confusing with a high likelihood both brands will be tarnished in the short term. Hopefully both Metabo brands will become 1 company in the long  run and they’ll figure out how to combined the good will both brands have build into something pretty powerful.
