We’re going to start off the week with our buddy Tim Johnson, who’s playing with Milwaukee’s new boom box.
If Sarah was here, she’d ask me what a boom box is, because I think she’s 12 years old. Anyways, Tim got his hands on the Milwaukee M18 Packout Radio, and thoroughly reviews every feature and detail, including the “antenna”, which lets face it, no one born after 2003 will even know what that’s for. Do they even broadcast radio over the air anymore? He asked no one because he’s in the studio alone. Tim seems happy with the rest of the radio, noting his only real complaint being the lack of rubber feet. You can see the video yourself over at Shop Tool Reviews on the YouTube.
Richard over at Finish Carpentry TV has found a new love, in the form of the long-popular, Clam Clamp. These awesome miter clamps have been around for some time now. I remember old arguments comparing them to the Hartford clamps that are fairly similar. But this was Richard’s first exposure to them, and he is smitten. The clamps work really well, and he’s been using them on the job site with great success. But it’s the manual that has Richard actually smiling and playing games at the end of his video. Richard is normally about as cool as they come in his videos, but I’m not going to lie. Seeing him have a good time goofing around, made me smile this week right when I needed it. Vince loves the DeWALT 996. It’s a popular hammer drill that has a history of winning tool test raws on Friday nights. But it’s time to retire the king, because there’s a new… king. The VCG gang got their hands on the all new 998, a replacement for the 996 with a claimed power increase of nearly 30%. That’s no small claim. And THAT is no small auger bit! Vince never doesn’t anything small. After thoroughly comparing it to the 996, he drills a few holes before explaining: If you’re not pumped enough about new DeWalt drills, Vince’ll get ya there, over at VCG Construction on YouTube.
Our last stop is with Kyle over at RR Buildings, who has 10 tips for running a successful construction business. If you watch RR Buildings, you’d assume all 10 tips were to get a greg. But nope, Kyle has 10 different tips including some basic yet important rules including answering your phone, getting quotes out on time, shooting at the moon, which is odd, and be honest. Speaking of, and let’s be honest here. There’s a reason I don’t have a construction company, and it’s because I’m always shooting at the moon, and I NEVER answer my phone, mainly because I don’t want to talk to you. That, and I don’t have a Greg. Whatcha gonna do? I’d suggest you start by watching the listicle yourself over at RR buildings on YouTube.
It’s time for some construction industry news, courtesy of the Construction Junkie. Milwaukee knows full well that their tools are still being used during the pandemic. So they decided to share some guidelines, for cleaning their tools.
With Construction being designated an essential business in most states, construction workers are all adjusting to new safety standards, including the implementation of social distancing on the jobsite. In addition to that, it’s important to constantly keep your tools clean, especially if you’re bringing them home each night. Milwaukee’s cleaning guide for power tools walks you through the dos and don’t of cleaning their tools. They recommend Mild soap and leaving the tool to rest for 3 days. I know there’s a joke in here about cleaning your tool, but I’ll be honest, I have no idea what day it is anymore, and I’m struggling to be funny. I’ll try again next week.
