DeWalt Power Tools at World of Concrete 2011

This year DeWalt again had an impressive indoor and outdoor setup at the 2011 World of Concrete. Always a packed house wherever the yellow team sets up shop, in addition to all the latest tools and accessories for users to demo there were several fun competitions to win prizes that drew pretty good sized crowds. Check out this photo album for more pictures from DeWalt at the 2011 World of Concrete.

New Hammer Drills

We were not blown away by any surprisingly new DeWalt tools this year at the WOC. They did have the new Hammer Drills, launched last summer which feature the SHOCKS anti vibration system as well as CTC (Complete Torque Control) 2 stage clutch which provides maximum control for the widest range of applications. These are really nice hammers and for many this would be the first time they might have had a chance to really test out these new features. Both the CTC and SHOCKS features are available on most SDS, SDS-Max & Spline hammers either together or independently depending on the model. Here was one of the original articles on the release from HomeConstructionImprovement.com.

New Accessories

Several of the newer accessories including the Diamond Edge Metal Cutting Chop Saw Blade, flap wheels and Impact Clutch we already saw at STAFDA a few months ago. We are still very impressed with the Diamond Chop Saw Blade and think that will be a huge hit with the metal working crowd once people get a little more comfortable dropping a few hundred on a single chop saw blade. The latest accessory launch at the WOC2011 was the SOLID ROCK CARBIDE SDS-Plus bits. These bits are specifically designed for very hard concrete applications as well as concrete with rebar, block and concrete on pan decks. These bits can handle the tougher applications thanks to a new bonding process as well as double the amount of carbide in the tip of each bit. Additionally the new flute design strengthens the bits to prevent breakage and speed the removal of concrete debris.

A Little Fun & Prizes

All the companies that set up booths at a show like this want to drawl a large crowd and let people have some fun while they are learning about their latest products. DeWalt did a good job accomplishing all of this with their in-booth competitions. These included the Breaker Challenge where folks got to race using the D25980K ($1492, Amazon) demo breaker to see who could smash up concrete the quickest. Another contest was Hammer Olympics which involved a series of steps breaking, drilling and fastening using a variety of DeWalt tools. Of course there were lots of prizes to give away and the crowds were pretty big and really seemed to get into the spirit of the competitions.
