Dewalt Launched 20V Max Cordless Bandsaw DCS371

DCS371 Dewalt

The new Dewalt 20V Max band saw DCS371 ($239, bare) pictured above, is very similar to their 18v XRP band saw DCS370 ($205, bare) pictured below video, they launched previously with same size and 2.5” cut capacity. The obvious difference is the 20V Max version works on the new battery platform which are not backwards compatible. As Dewalt continues this transition we should see more of these tools transition to the 20V Max platform. It is a little surprising to us after a few years with the newer 20V technology how many Dewalt forks are still on the old platform. Of course Dewalt is happy to support both product lines as long as the customers continue to purchase both products. For more on the new DCS371 check out Rob’s (A Concord Carpenter) video below as well as the Dewalt press release below that.

TOWSON, Md. – DEWALT expands its 20V MAX* line of cordless power tools with the launch of the new 20V MAX* band saw (DCS371). This lightweight and compact saw weighs only 9.4 lbs (with battery), and is only 15” long. This saw is ideal for electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and other professional contractors who need to cut conduit, rigid pipe, Uni-Strut, threaded rod, or other materials up to 2 ½” in diameter on the jobsite. The balanced design of the DCS371, battery and motor on opposite ends of the tool, allows the tool to do the work and aids the user in making a straight cut.

“The professional trades are constantly looking for tools that can help make them more productive,” says Sean Templeton, Product Manager, DEWALT. “Our 20V MAX* band saw offers a great combination of size, weight, power, and cutting capacity to help contractors complete their tasks quickly and efficiently.”

The DCS371 includes an LED work light with 20-second delay to illuminate dark work surfaces for accurate cutting, an integrated hang hook for convenient attachment to ladders or workstations, and a blade tracking adjustment that helps to prolong the life of the blade. For comfort and flexibility, the new band saw is equipped with an ergonomic, soft grip back handle. The tool-free blade changing lever loosens blade tension to make changing the blade easy, and the dual bearing blade guide rollers provide durability in the blade support system.

The 20V MAX* band saw kit (DCS371M1) with DEWALT XR 4.0 Ah lithium ion battery pack and fast charger, and the bare tool (DCS371B) will be available in January 2014, and will carry a suggested retail of $359.00 and $239.00, respectively. The kit and bare tool will both come with a three-year limited warranty, one-year free service contract, and 90-day money back guarantee.
