For as long as we can remember the Ridgid Power Pony 700 ($1400) has been the standard in mobile pipe threading for ½” – 2” pipe. Others have made similar versions but none have come anywhere near the Power Pony for popularity and performance. The one and only drawback that continuously comes up however, in 2019 a tool designed for portability needs to be you know, portable which means cordless. The team at Milwaukee hopes to capitalize on this short coming and fill the need with the M18 FUEL Pipe Threader w/ONE-KEY 2874-22HD. This unit will use the very common 12R die heads so will be compatible with all your current Ridgid 12R Threading Die Heads you likely already own in various sizes.

One of the most common frustrations with corded threaders is over-rotation, which can lead to loss of control and potential injury. To prevent this, the M18 FUEL™ Threader w/ ONE-KEY™ features proprietary AUTOSTOP™ Kickback Control technology which kicks in during lock-up situations and automatically shuts down the tool. A dedicated support arm can also be clamped on the pipe to hold the tool stationary while threading. Additionally, an integrated die head retention lock prevents unwanted die head ejection. This feature, combined with an in-line side grip, eliminates the need to contact the spinning die head at the start of a thread.
